O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. (Psalm 104:24, ESV)

Biblical basics to start the new year right — focus on Jesus

    Read 1 Timothy 3:1-16

"The mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory"
    (1 Timothy 3:16).

What Does This Scripture Mean for Us?

I belong to a church where we recite in unison the Apostle's Creed every Sunday. Why? Well, for a couple of reasons: These statements of agreed-upon-truth about God and mankind serve as a nifty "review" or reminder of what's important to teach; and also, reciting one of the creeds of the Church reaffirms the unity we have with all believers both now and throughout the years of Church history.

I was reminded of the importance of all this as I read the Apostle Paul's words to Timothy, and I thought it would make an excellent way to start the new year: remembering the basis for all our days and all our years as believers -- life for us must be centered on Jesus our Lord.

May you have a terrific day today -- and a terrific new year! -- walking with Him in joy and peace, no matter what your circumstances may be.
