Even when we’re ‘quitters’ God never gives up on us

Read 2 Timothy 4:9-22

"The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom" (2 Timothy 4:18).

What Does This Scripture Mean for Us?

Are you a quitter?

Odd question, perhaps. I'm SURE there are circumstances in which I probably would simply give up and would be seen as a "quitter." Well, actually, I know that's true. There have been times in my life when I have given up, at least temporarily, and quit a particular job, project, whatever.

I make no pretense of being especially brave when facing physical pain, for example. In fact, St. Shirl, if I ever let her speak in these pages, could probably tell you that when I'm sick, I whine a lot.

How exciting, though, to read Paul's words, to think of some of the dear "saints" of the Lord throughout the ages who weren't "quitters" -- who were so on fire with the passion of their love of God and love for others that they took/take great risks to tell of Christ.

Thanks someone today for their perseverance even in the face of opposition and danger so that you and I were able to find God's grace and love in Christ for ourselves.
