Read 1 Timothy 6:3-10
"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many griefs" (1 Timothy 6:10).
What Does This Scripture Mean for Us?
That Scripture verse may rank among the most misquoted, misunderstood verses of all time. You've heard the way it's usually misquoted haven't you? "Money is the root of all evil."
But money is simply a tool -- something we use to meet our material/physical needs, to care
for our families, to help our brothers and sisters who need it.
It's the LOVE of money that becomes a problem in God's sight, and a snare that catches and
destroys many lives. The love of money causes us to misuse the tool, perhaps making it an obsession that drives us with more passion than our love for God.
(Now, of course, if you find yourself with a terrible excess of money and you fear that it might
distract you from serving God today, I have a little private fund set up to help me .... no, not really.)
Keep your money in it's place today -- use it as a tool, don't turn it into an idol or carry it around as a burden.
