Great resources to live by — power, love, self-discipline from God

Read 2 Timothy 1:3-2:13

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline"
(2 Timothy 1:7).

What Does This Scripture Mean for Us?

The Scripture verse I've quoted above out of today's reading has always meant a lot to me
personally. Those who know me think I'm a pretty "extroverted" person, usually smiling and laughing, and trying to take a positive outlook on life.

Those who know me REALLY WELL -- like, say, St. Shirley the Encourager, my good wife -- know that while I may be laughing on the outside, I'm often quivering with shyness and fear on the inside.

Yup. I've always been a very insecure, shy person. But I've learned to "mask" it pretty well.

My point in all this "true confession" would be this: Whether your shy or not, and even when you're anxious or outright afraid, God's Holy Spirit will give you the "power" the "love" and the "self-discipline" to do whatever you're called on to do.

Keep on trusting Jesus today, love and serve Him, and don't give in to the fear that may be dogging you.
