We don’t know all about God — knowing Jesus, we know all we really need to know
Read 1 Corinthians 15:12-28
"When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all" (1 Corinthians 15:28).
What Does This Scripture Mean for Us?
There are truly great mysteries that surround life, death, immortality, Christ, God the Father, and everything in general regarding eternity. In Scripture, God chooses to reveal to us what we must know to come to him, to live for him -- to live FOREVER because of his love and grace to us in Christ.
But anyone who tells you he or she has it all figured out, has all the answers in detail -- well,
my friend, I would treat that person respectfully, but not take him too seriously.
I'm reading a wonderful book right now called "90 Minutes in Heaven," by a Baptist preacher named Don Piper. Piper was literally killed in a horrible car wreck in the 1980s. He was physically mangled almost beyond description, pronounced dead by EMTs at the scene of the wreck -- then came back to life. During the 90 minutes he was dead, God took him to heaven. The book describes both what he saw and experienced in heaven and what impact that has had on his life.
Not even Don Piper, nor others with similar experiences, has all the answers about eternal matters. God has not chosen to tell him, to tell the others, to tell any of us all about life, death, and the mysteries of himself.
But we absolutely do know, in light of God's Word, that we have eternal life and abundant life in this world and the next -- through our "faith-union" with Christ. And knowing that, no matter what catastrophe(s) strike, we know all we really need!
